About National Drinking Water Week
May 5 - 9, 2008
We rely on tap water every day---so much so that we often take it for granted. The purpose of National Drinking Water Week is to promote public awareness of the value of tap water and encourage responsible use of water resources.

Only Tap Water Delivers
Why celebrate tap water? Because only tap water delivers...
- Public health protection
- Fire protection
- Support for our economy, and
- Quality of life.
Here in the U.S., we have some of the highest quality water in the world. Having a reliable supply of clean, safe drinking water has eradicated water borne illnesses, helped protect communities against fire, and contributed to the strength of our economy.
Because tap water is so reliable, it has become a silent service that is rarely recognized for the role it plays in our quality of life. So raise a glass to tap water this Drinking Water Week!

Look for a copy of our 2007 Annual Water Quality Report (PDF: 200KB) in your May water bill. It provides a summary of the 56,000 water quality tests we preformed last year to ensure our water is safe to drink.
- Your Water Your Environment: Every Drop Counts
This special publication all about water will appear in the May 7th edition of The Post and Courier newspaper. Charleston Water System teamed up with Mount Pleasant Waterworks to produce the 16-page educational insert, which will be delivered to teachers to use in the classroom.
